Turn equal groups into an addition equation, then connect it to multiplication.

One addend for every group

  • 2 × 5 means 2 groups of 5: 5 + 5 = 10.
  • 4 × 2 means 4 groups of 2: 2 + 2 + 2 + 2 = 8.
  • 3 × 6 means 3 groups of 6: 6 + 6 + 6 = 18.
