A graph is an argument made with data. Its title, labels, scale, and source help readers decide whether the story is trustworthy.

The big idea

Different summaries answer different questions

For 4, 6, 6, 7, and 12, the mean is 7, the median is 6, and the mode is 6. The unusually large 12 pulls the mean upward.

Create an infographic about a data set, representing the data in appropriate ways, including in relative-frequency tables and stacked-bar graphs, and incorporating any other relevant information that helps to tell a story about the data.
