  1. Five kilograms of apples cost $20. At the same rate, what do 8 kg cost?

    Answer: $32

    The unit rate is $20 ÷ 5 = $4 per kilogram, and 8 × $4 = $32.

  2. Which rule is proportional?

    Answer: y = 4x

    A proportional rule has the form y = kx and passes through the origin.

  3. Solve 6/9 = n/24.

    Answer: n = 16

    6/9 simplifies to 2/3. Two-thirds of 24 is 16.
