A strong reading explains multiple details, acknowledges ambiguity, and changes when counter-evidence is stronger than the original claim.

Work it through

Analyze a satirical advertisement

1. State the literal message and identify details that make it unstable or exaggerated.
2. Trace any allusion and determine what background knowledge it activates.
3. Infer the likely target and purpose of the satire.
4. Evaluate perspective, bias, audience impact, and an alternative interpretation using evidence.
