Paraphrasing before responding demonstrates comprehension and exposes misunderstandings. Open-ended questions create room for evidence, nuance, and revision.

Respond to a disputed school proposal

1. Paraphrase the previous speaker's claim and ask whether the summary is accurate.
2. Ask an open-ended question about evidence, impact, or an assumption.
3. Offer a relevant response with precise vocabulary and a source.
4. Use tone, pace, eye contact, and turn-taking that keep participation inclusive.
